Collaborators

Artists & Musicians

More than sixty artists and musicians have worked on this so far. If you make things in Seattle, there is a way in.

I am not a gallery and I do not take a commission. What I have is doors, walls, rooms, stages, a game that credits you by name, and a nonprofit built to pay people.

Paint a door

You get the door, the materials, and permanent public placement. Your name and a link to your own work sit on the page a stranger reads when they scan it in the street. No commission taken, ever.

Play a show

We book Seattle bands for Bob's Doors nights. Real rooms, real crowds, and people who came for something they can't get on a stream.

Build with us

Fabricators, installers, painters, writers, people with trucks. The bottleneck has never been ideas.

For Venues

A door outside your place turns you from a storefront people walk past into a stop on the route. On art walk nights, that's the whole game.

Foot traffic, not signage

Players follow a map between doors. Yours is a marked stop, and your name is on the page they read while standing in front of you.

The house special

You pick an item — a drink, a pastry, whatever you want to move. It's listed only on your door's page. Order it and you get a coaster with an easter egg on it. The story stays free and complete without it; the bonus is the reward for supporting the shop. Every dollar stays with you.

A real piece on your wall

The door is an original work by a Seattle artist. At the top tier you choose the artist and keep the piece when the run ends.

Nick Saputo

About

Nick Saputo

I'm an experiential transmedia artist, industrial designer, and web and game designer based in Seattle. My primary medium is The Tertiary Structure, a conceptual foundation I developed.

I also bring more than thirty years of IT operations and networking experience, which I use to build community-first infrastructure rather than only artwork. The doors are the visible part. What's underneath is a system for getting artists paid.

My drive comes from my father — a technical illustrator who spent his working life making sure his children never faced the "starving artist" reality. I'm dedicated to making sure the future has a place for artists like him.

The art is the method. Supporting the people is the mission.

The Catalyst

I'm also a co-founder of The Catalyst (Catalyst Arts), the Seattle nonprofit behind Bob's Doors — built to give artists real space, tools and people, without ever taking a commission.

Bob's Doors is a project of Catalyst Arts, a Washington nonprofit corporation. Our 501(c)(3) application is pending with the IRS.
